NMB Bank Plc has launched a new facility to enable its client’s open accounts through their respective mobile phones in less than three minutes, accessed by downloading a special App.

The Managing Director for NMB, Ms. Ineke Bussemaker, has said that her bank has decided to embrace a digital solution to provide its potential client with a friendly way to open accounts with the bank and accelerate financial inclusion in the country.

“NMB announces a self-service account opening experience for customers, new easy to use App; ‘’NMB Klik’’ she said during the launch of the new facility in Dar es Salaam yesterday.

NMB is reported to be the first local bank to offer the possibility to open an account through mobile device the facility enables, a customer has up to 90 days to complete the Know Your Customer Verification (KYC).

“We strive to put the customer perspective at the heart of our services, through the effective incorporation of digital technology in products and services. The account will help to accelerate financial inclusion through its light KYC requirement.”

The self-service account opening makes it easier to reach potential clients and underserved population, by simplifying the process of opening a bank account to anyone who is interested in opening it.

Our goal is to provide our clients with a quick and secure digital application, including tailor-made advice through our relationship managers’ network.

The facility to open an online account is the first step; we will continue to add new features to our NMB App in the months to come.” The self-service account opening was simultaneously launched with NMB Klik App with attached features to request a salary advance loan and self-opening of fixed deposit account.

The NMB’s App also facilitates bill payments, loan services, investment services; foreign exchange transfers.

It provides access to multiple accounts and information on Branches, ATMs and NMB Agent’s locations.

At the inauguration ceremony, Deputy Governor for BOT, Dr Bernard Kibesse who was the guest of honour commended initiatives made by NMB Bank to extend its services to rural areas.

“You are relatively doing better especially your efforts to reach the rural areas. I know you can do better than what you have launched today’’, said Dr. Kibesse, urging them to reach the un-served and the underserved Tanzanian population.
