Small Industries Development Organisation (SIDO) has emerged the winner in technology category and the third overall winner at the ongoing 42nd Dar es Salaam International Trade Fair (DITF).

SIDO Director General, Prof Sylvester Mpanduji, said the awards were a result of SIDO’s immense investment in entrepreneurial training and
technology.

“We did not expect this accomplishment because there are so many participants with several technological inventions to showcase. This victory encourages to work harder and ensure we meet public expectations,” he noted.

He added that SIDO had emerged the overall winner after producing competitive equipment. Prof Mpanduji pointed out that SIDO had exhibited several machines, including the ones used to process agricultural products and make environmentally friendly energy saving equipment.

“The discovery of various machines that are user-friendly with a potential to address challenges facing Tanzanians is one of the reasons why we have excelled in the technology category,” Prof Mpanduji, who is also an engineer by profession, explained.

He pointed out that to realize the fifth phase government’s industrialization objective, SIDO would continue training entrepreneurs and discover more machines. He added

that such training was ongoing countrywide free of charge. “Our objective is to widen knowledge on various technologies found at SIDO. We, therefore, call on Tanzanians to come out in bigger numbers to utilize this opportunity,” he stressed.

Prof Mpanduji expressed gratitude to the people, who visited the SIDO pavilion, saying the trend was promising and a sign that many people would attend training this year to ensure small industries developed further.
