'Idris na Uber'

The actor and former Big Brother Africa winner, Idris Sultan has been named the Uber brand ambassador in Tanzania for this year.

The comedian is the first artiste to be the face of the newly introduced urban modern traveling service. Idris who is a comedian actor and radio host was unveiled over the weekend during an elegant and exclusive event dubbed ‘Idris na Uber’ that was only open to a few members of the public and media at an upscale, cocktail event held in Dar es Salaam.

“I am very excited and honored to partner with Uber, as I am a huge fan of the way they have changed the urban transport system globally. I am happy to see how Uber has ingrained itself in Dar es Salaam, I always use Uber X when I go out clubbing with my friends and I am excited about the new uberPOA service which I can not wait to try out – check me out,” said Idris Sultan.

Marketing Manager for Uber in East Africa Elizabeth Njeri said Idris Sultan is a fun and eccentric artist who is also well respected in the art scene from comedy, acting, and radio hosting. Also, a great fit for Uber because he is locally recognized as a true patriot and constantly engages with h9s fans on social media.

“We worked hard to make sure that we chose a relevant and exciting Uber brand ambassador in Tanzania. All these are qualities that we look for when partnering with brand ambassadors as they go a long way in demonstrating that we care for the local needs of our riders and driver partners in Tanzania,” said Elizabeth Njeri.

Uber Tanzania Country Manager, Alfred Msemo said Uber is focusing on harnessing the power of its global operations to deeply connect with communities around the world.

Idris Sultan’s footprint in Tanzania’s pop culture resonates with our goal to build a global brand that lives locally in the hearts of our driver – partners and riders.

This announcement comes high on the heels after Uber recently announced a partnership with Tigo that enables Tigo customers to get free data when they use the Uber app.
