Simba Striker Emmanuel Okwi is close to winning the Mainland Premier League Golden Boot Award for the First time in his career in the country.
The Ugandian striker has won league titles when playing for Simba and Yanga at different season but has never won top scorer award since he came into the country for the first time in 2010.
Okwi who joined rejoined Simba this season, the club he left in 2015, is likely to win the award this time round.
He leads the 16-teams league scoring board with 18 goals, followed by his teammate captain John Bocco with 13 goals, while Zambian striker Obrey Chirwa of Yanga has 12goals.
Others in the top scoring race or runners-up are Eliud Ambokile of Mbeya City (10), Habib Kiyombo of Mbao FC and Mohammed Rashid of Prisons with nine goals each.
Asante Kwasi of Simba SC and Marcel Kaheza of Majimaji have eight goals each.
Those who tie on seven goals are Ibrahim Ajib of Yanga, Shiza Kichuya (Simba) and Paul Nonga (Mwandui FC).
Simba lead the league with 55 points from 23 games followed by defending champions Yanga on 47 points.
